Window Boxes Add Charm to a House

With spring usually comes the appearance of flowers “peeking” out of the softened soil. It’s at this time we wish we would have been more organized in the fall and made use of all those free seed catalogs to plant and plan our spring gardens.

Often those spring flowers are all the inspiration needed to get us out planning our summer gardens, whether they be filled with flower seeds, vegetable seeds, herb seeds, heirloom seeds, organic seeds or wildflower seeds. The addition of flowers seeds, herb seeds and wildflower seeds can be a welcome addition to any garden or window box. Window boxes are a lovely way to add color and charm to any house, apartment or business and do not require too much planning.

The following are some window box tips you will want to consider; the soil choice is extremely important as the size of container is so small; the flower seeds or vegetable seeds you choose should have vigorous root systems; use a highly fertilized mix to stimulate growth; use lightweight soil so your box will not be too heavy after watering; use a pre fertilized soil-less mix (peat moss and vermiculite is a good choice); use a continuous feed fertilizer and use new soil in your box every year (good preventative against any diseases from previous year).

Adding a window box to wherever you live is both an enjoyable and easy way to make use of your flower seeds, vegetable seeds, wildflower seeds and herb seeds each year.
